This component covers the basic physical principles and terminology of remote sensing and gives an overview of various remote sensing satellites and their orbits, common imaging sensor and their technical principles, technical performance and data formats. Computer processing and basic image processing methods in remote sensing are also covered, including radiometrical and geometrical correction, image enhancement, classification methods, image transformation integration of field data with remote sensing data for classification and accuracy assessment, and thematic map production using remotely sensed data.
