COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course provides GIS Introduction, Definition and fundamental theories and concepts of Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Data types, Basics of how GIS works, Table Queries: Data base selection by location. Attribute and, Mapping concepts and The course content will include data input, storage and editing, spatial data structures, analytical functions of a GIS, data output, management of GIS, and applications of GIS. Laboratory exercises will complement the theory presented in the lectures. Participants will use a commercial GIS software product (ArcGIS) and gain a reasonable proficiency with that package.
In this course, hands-on and practical lectures, I will help you master the most common and important geo-processing tasks that can be performed with ArcGIS Desktop, one of THE MOST important GIS software tools available. We’ll also deal with some theoretical concepts related to Spatial Data Analysis, and then we’ll focus on implementing some of the most common GIS techniques (all the way showing you how to execute these tasks in ArcGIS Desktop
